Here at Hale River Homestead there are many things to keep you occupied.

Bush Walking/ Mountain Bike Riding – Within close walking distance from Hale River Homestead are several places for bushwalking/ bike riding.  Trails vary from easy to some challenging hilly tracks, with some interesting scenery, lakes and waterholes.  Directions and maps are available, just ask a member of staff.

Bird Watching  – Many different varieties of birds can be observed in the close vicinity of the homestead; “Lake Ambalindum” is a favourite location!

Lake Ambalindum/Horse Paddock Dam – Located 1.9km from The Homestead it is within easy walking distance and perfect location for a picnic.

 Fredericks Lookout – Suitable for walking, driving or bike riding. The lookout is located approximately 6.4km from the Homestead. A great location to watch the sunrise or sunset.

 Arltunga Historical Reserve – Arltunga is located approximately 20km from Hale River Homestead. Walk through late 1800, early 1900 gold mining history.  Ruby Gap – Drive to beautiful Ruby Gap.  Access is by 4x4 only and can be quite challenging but it is well worth the trip! Take a picnic to enjoy while you're there.  Click here to visit the parks website
